Spring Term in Squirrels
We had a very busy Spring Term with lots of exciting things happening!
Our topics were ‘Out of This World’ and ‘Going on a Journey.’ We learnt all about space and the different planets, as well as travelling and designing and creating different modes of transport for our journeys.
We use our artist skills during themed days and also talked lots about the Easter story and why we celebrate Easter.
We looked closely at the stories ‘Whatever Next’ ‘How to catch a star’ ‘Aliens love underpants’ ‘Mr Gumpys Journey’ ‘Six Dinner Sid’ and ‘Lost and Found.’ We used our Talk4Writing skills to make story maps and write about the different characters.
For maths we have been using Numberblocks to help with our numbers and we are brilliant at subitising now! We can also work out what different numbers we need to make 10 and we have been practising ordering and writing numbers too.
We have been focusing on our physical skills, playing with playdough and cutting to help strengthen our hands, and we also had some exciting gymnastics lessons!
Summer is going to be even more exciting when we start out new topic, ‘Dinosaur Roar!’ We will be looking closely at fiction and non-fiction to help us lean all about Dinosaurs! We will also learn lots about the Royal family during our ‘All Things Royal’ topic, just in time to celebrate the Queen’s jubilee!
