Fox Class

Foxes had a great end to the autumn term and what a busy half term it was, culminating with our fabulous Nativity performance at the church. The children worked so hard to overcome fears, develop their confidence and step out of their comfort zones to put on a really beautiful show for everyone. What superstars they are! It really was a great end to a jam-packed half term. A real highlight was our trip to the Apex where we were lucky enough to take part in the storytelling of ‘The Robot and the Bluebird’ and we were fully immersed in a fascinating orchestral performance. Miss Goody, Miss March and Mrs Hill were in awe of how mesmerised the children were in watching such a lovely performance. It really was such a wonderful opportunity for our children to experience and we feel very lucky to have been part of it. We worked hard across all areas of the curriculum and particularly enjoyed out DT sessions on learning how to make moving pictures using mechanisms. We also found out about different animal groups in Science and enjoyed exploring their different characteristics. Our work in History continued to be very popular and we loved learning about the Great Fire of London. We listened attentively when finding out all about how the fire started and the devastation it caused in London. We have been working to develop our sentence writing in English and have had a go at some story writing. We will be looking to improve on our writing over the spring term, really working on our spelling and our handwriting. It has been really pleasing to see lots of children enthusiastically bringing to school pieces of writing that they have been practising at home. We look forward to seeing much more of this during this half term, so please keep it coming! This half terms topic; ‘The Places We Live’ is looking to be an exciting one where we will become geographers and explore our local area. We will look at landmarks in our local area and get out and about for some lovely winter walks.
