Spring 2nd

We have had a wonderful time in Squirrel Class this half term. We continued learning with our Tinga Tales and now know even more wonderful funky facts! We finished the half term with a wonderful trip to Colchester Zoo where we got to meet all of the animals we have been learning about.website zoo pic Medium

In Literacy, we have enjoyed reading the Noah’s Ark story and have enjoyed writing all about what animals we would put onto the ark and why. In Maths, we enjoyed using real shrimp sweets to share out between our two flamingoes to work out our odd and even numbers! In R.E. we have been listening to the Easter story and have enjoyed sharing hot cross buns and making Easter cards and Easter nests. We also had a very special visit from two lovely lambs to help us to think all about new life and Spring time.

We have been very lucky as we got to attend a wonderful concert at the Jubilee Centre in Mildenhall. We went back in time to the 17th Century and got to find out all about different instruments and composers from different Countries.

We were super excited to have a visit from PC Bob and find out all about his job and sit in his police car!website PC bob PIC Medium

We have had more wonderful Reading Café’s after school and been able to further explore the different story sacks with our grown-ups. We also got to have a fantastic Maths morning with our grown-ups and got to share all of our wonderful learning at our class assembly.

Next half term, we will be going on many, ‘Enchanted Adventures,’ and using lots of familiar stories to help us on our way. Stories will include; Jack and the Beanstalk, The Gingerbread Man, The Elves and the Shoemaker and Where the Wild Things Are, to name but a few. We will be growing our own beanstalks and designing and making yummy gingerbread men. In Maths, we will be exploring money and measuring time and using our fantastic problem solving skills.

There will definitely be lots more opportunities for making even more golden memories in Squirrel Class.
