Fox Class Spring 2

Fox 1 MediumFox Class have had a fantastic half-term. We have loved learning about Giants. We read some fantastic stories in our literacy lessons - ‘James and the Giant Peach’ was one of our favourites. We watched the DVD and compared the storyline to the book. We also enjoyed reading ‘Jack and the Baked Beanstalk’, we wrote our ownFox 2 Medium versions of the story using our homework projects as inspiration. In our afternoon lessons we planted our own beanstalks and created a castle in the clouds on a skewer to act as a support for our beans as they grown. We measured them each week and recorded their height in our own bean diaries.

In our R.E lessons we looked at ‘Stories and Books’ from a Christian perspective. We looked at the Parable of the Lost Sheep. We used masks and acted the story out. Also we used art materials to retell the parable. We thought hard about what Christians might learn from listening to this story. We discussed books that are special to us and books that are special to Christians.

We are looking forward to our new topic ‘Enchanted Forests’ which we will be starting after Easter. We will be looking at traditional tales such as Hansel and Gretel. In the afternoon sessions we will be looking at the features of our local area and learning to sing some traditional nursery rhymes.
